Box Score WHEELING, W.Va. - The Concord University women's basketball team lost to Wheeling Jesuit, 71-60, in the first round of the Mountain East Conference Tuesday night at the McDonough Center in Wheeling, W. Va..
Junior forward
Andrea Bertrand, who received first team All-MEC recognition earlier in the week, led all scorers with 28 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds to end the season with her seventh double-double of the year. She went 10-for-24 from the field and 8-for-11 from the free-throw line Tuesday. The Midlothian, Va. native has had at least eight rebounds in four of her last five games played.
In her junior season, Bertrand became the sixth player in Concord history to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career while also becoming just the third player to register 1,000-point, 500-rebound and 100-steal careers.
Junior forward
Jacqueline Kestner nearly tallied her fifth double-double of the season with eight points and eight rebounds in addition to a team-high five assists.

Olivia Morgan and junior guard
Rachel Artrip added seven and six points, respectively. Smith also recorded five rebounds.
The first ten minutes of the contest was a low scoring affair that featured four leads changes as both teams put the defensive clamps on each other leading to a 12-11 Wheeling Jesuit (15-12) advantage with 9:49 to play in the half.
Four more lead changes would occur over the next five minutes before Wheeling Jesuit scored four unanswered points to pull ahead 22-17 with 4:12 remaining in the first half. The Mountain Lions ended the half on a 10-5 run to tie the game at 27-27 heading into the break. Bertrand accounted for six of CU's10 points during the stretch.
Wheeling Jesuit started the second half on a 21-10 run to take a decisive 48-37 lead over the Mountain Lions through the opening eight minutes of the period. CU responded by going on a 17-9 of its own to cut the Cardinals' lead to just three points at 57-54 with 5:43 remaining in the game.
Bertrand scored 10 points during the run with Smith adding a key three-pointer during the spurt as well.
However, the three-point margin would be as close as Concord would get as the Cardinals erased any thoughts of a Mountain Lion comeback by scoring 14 of the games final 20 points to end CU's season with an 11-point victory.
For the game, Concord held edges over Wheeling Jesuit in forced turnovers (16-12), points off turnovers (11-10), second chance points (9-8) and steals (6-3).
CU shot 35 percent (21-for-60) from the field for the game. 30 percent (3-for-10) from the three-point line and 55.6 percent (15-for-27) from the foul line.
The Cardinals countered by shooting 43.8 percent (21-for-48) from the field, 50 percent (5-for-10) from long range and 80 percent (24-for-30) from the foul line.
Wheeling Jesuit moves on to play top-seeded Glenville State in the second round of the MEC Tournament Thursday.
Concord ends its season with an overall record of 10-17 and a MEC mark of 8-15.
