Box Score 2 ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University baseball team started its four-game series against Glenville State College with a doubleheader sweep Friday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play at Anderson Field.
The victories improve the Mountain Lions' record to 16-10 overall and 13-7 in league play. Glenville State dropped to 4-17 and 4-13 in MEC competition after the losses.
Concord was led on the day by a quartet of players at the plate. Sophomore outfielder
Andrew Seigel racked up five hits on the day, going 5-for-8 with four RBI, two triples and two stolen bases. Sophomore designated hitter
Joe Camp and sophomore shortstop
Brad Sullivan posted matching 4-for-7 days with Camp driving in three runs. Junior second baseman
Jerrod Groves rounded out the top performers on a 3-for-6, three-run, two-stolen base afternoon.
Game One: Concord 5 – Glenville State 4 (Box Score)

Bret Blevins to give Concord a 5-4 win over the Pioneers to open the series.
With one out in the seventh inning and the game tied at 4-4, Blevins stepped to the plate and struck a single to centerfield and proceeded to run himself into scoring position with a stolen base. After a fly out by senior first baseman
Joey Miller, Camp shot a single by Glenville State's diving shortstop to bring home Blevins for the game-winning run.
For the game, Camp went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Seigel drove in a game-high three runs on a 3-for-4 outing at the plate which included two triples. Senior catcher
Brandon Costa also registered a three-hit game while scoring a pair of runs. Acting as Concord's leadoff hitter for the first time this season, Groves was 2-for-4 with one run.
Sophomore pitcher
Chris Kelly increased his record to 4-2 in 2013 after scattering eight hits and four runs, only one of which was earned, while striking out five batters in seven innings for his second complete game of the year.
Game Two: Concord 12 – Glenville State 2 (Box Score)
Game two was never in question as the Mountain Lions scored five runs in the first three innings and shutdown the Glenville State bats for the majority of the contest to cruise to a 12-2 victory in the nightcap.
Eight Concord players combined for 14 hits including five that had multi-hit performances with Sullivan leading the way on a 3-for-4 showing. Seigel, Camp, junior third baseman

Charles Goss all tallied two-hit games as well with Goss driving in three runs and hitting one home run, Camp coming away with two RBI and Johnston scoring twice.
Miller continued to show why he was one of the top hitters in the MEC by producing a 1-for-1, two-run, three-RBI, one-home run, two-walk contest. The home run was Miller's team-leading seventh of the season.
On the base paths, the Mountain Lions stole eight bases. Blevins stole three bases in addition to scoring twice, while Seigel and Groves each swiped a pair of bases. Costa rounded out the group with one stolen base. On the season, Blevins leads Concord with 14 stolen bases; two more than Seigel.
Leading 5-2 entering the fourth inning, Concord extended its lead to 7-2 with a pair of runs in the fifth before putting the game out of reach in a dynamic five-run sixth inning to give the Maroon and Gray a commanding 10-run lead.
After Glenville State's two-run, two-hit first inning the trio of freshman

Bryant Pybus and sophomore
Brandon Tucker combined to allow no runs and just three hits over the remainder of the contest.
Z. Kelly improved to 3-1 on the season after giving Concord five innings of two-run, five-hit baseball. Pybus and Tucker each threw a scoreless inning of relief. Tucker struck out two of the game's final three batters.
Concord will look to complete its series sweep of Glenville State with two more wins Sunday. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.Â
