Softball Set for First MEC Road Trip

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team will begin a six-game Mountain East Conference road trip at UVa.-Wise 3:00 p.m. Thursday before heading to Ohio for weekend series Saturday at Notre Dame College and Sunday against Urbana.

RECORDS and STANDINGS
• Concord is off to its best start in school history at 19-7 overall and 3-1 in MEC play. The Mountain Lions are just three wins away from tying CU's 2011 team for most wins in program history.

• UVa.-Wise beings play this week at 15-6 on the season with a 2-0 mark in MEC action.

• Notre Dame is 9-12 overall and 3-1 in league competition.

• One of just three undefeated teams in league play, Urbana is 12-4 on the year and 4-0 in conference play.

• The Mountain Lions have never faced Notre Dame or Urbana dating back to the 1994-95 season.

MOUNTAIN LIONS NOTES
• Concord heads to UVa.-Wise Thursday fresh off of winning three of four games last weekend after sweeping a doubleheader against Shepherd and splitting two games with Fairmont State.

• Over four games last weekend junior pitcher / first baseman Lacey McDougall batted (4-for-10) with seven runs scored, two home runs and six RBI.

• McDougall also pitched 12 innings in two games allowing 13 hits, striking out two batters and not giving up an earned run to lower her team-best ERA to 1.14, ranking her first in the MEC and 23rd in Division II.

• McDougall also finds herself among the nation's best in RBI as she is tied for 35th with 1.32 RBI per game with 32 this season.

• Sophomore pitcher Allie Reid matched her career-high in strikeouts in game one against Shephred with eight. She picked up two wins over the weekend to improve to 10-2 on the year, an MEC-best.

• Sophomore shortstop Kristen Rose had three stolen bases in the doubleheader sweep of Shepherd. For the season, Rose is 13-for-14 in steal attempts, tying her for the league lead.

• Freshman outfielder Lauren Lewis and junior outfielder Jessica Seymour both have seven steals this season with Lewis having yet to be caught stealing at a perfect 7-for-7.

• As a team, the Mountain Lions are 33-for-38 in stolen base attempts, placing them second in the MEC.

• CU ranks first in the conference in runs (149), hits (218) and home runs (20). As a team, the Mountain Lions only had 20 home runs a season ago. The bulk of CU's home runs have come from the trio of McDougall (seven), sophomore catcher Alyssa Morris (four) and freshman third baseman Kelsey Lineberger (four).

• The quartet of Lewis, Rose, McDougall and sophomore catcher Alyssa Morris are a combined 57-for-108 with runners in scoring positions (RISP) with McDougall leading the way at 15-for-30.

• Junior second baseman Whitney Carrigan has been one of CU's most consistent fielder this season with 30 putouts, 17 assists and just one error for a fielding percentage of .979.

• Concord is 14-0 this season when outhitting their opponents.

SCOUTING UVA.-WISE
• The Cavaliers lead the conference in on-base percentage at .409.

• UVa.-Wise also possesses the MEC's best team batting average at .344.

SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
• Notre Dame is averaging 8.5 runs in their first four conference games of the season.

• Kelsey Coleman has the best batting average for the Falcons at .371 (26-for-70)

SCOUTING URBANA
• Urbana's Haley Kolmerten sports the MEC's second best ERA at 1.37. Kolmerten is 5-1 with 41 innings pitched.

• Caitlyn Everhart has the league's second best batting average at .512 (21-for-41).

THE COACHES
• Alisa Tasler owns a record of 59-67 in her three seasons at Concord.

• UVa.-Wise's Karen Bitter is in the midst of her third season at UVa.-Wise and has posted a 69-59 record.

• Amy Kyler is 105-65 in four seasons in charge of the Notre Dame program.

• Urbana's Danielle Lowe is in her second season of coaching the Blue Knights. Lowe's record is 27-29-1.
