TROUTVILLE, Va. – The Concord University softball team swept a trio of one-run games Saturday on day one of the Salem Invitational. The Mountain Lions opened with a 3-2 win over Ohio Valley University before beating Edinboro University, 8-7, and Mansfield University, 2-1, in the nightcap.

The wins improve the Mountain Lions' record to 13-5 on the year. With 33 games remaining in the season, Concord is already just eight wins away from tying the school-record for victories in a season. The Mountain Lions are now 6-1 this year in one-run games.

Game One: Concord  3 – Ohio Valley 2
Concord needed just four hits to pick up its first win of the day as pitchers Lacey McDougall and Allie Reid combined to hold Ohio Valley to just two runs over seven innings while freshman Kelsey Lineberger and sophomore Alyssa Morris provided the offense via a two-run home run from Lineberger and an RBI-double by Morris.

McDougall picked up the win vs. Ohio Valley and Reid came on in relief to earn her first save of the season.

Freshmen Carly DiVirgilio and Lauren Lewis accounted for Concord's other two hits against the Fighting Scots. Lineberger's home run was her team-leading fourth of the season.

Game Two: Concord 8 – Edinboro 7 (Box Score)
Concord erased an early 4-0 deficit thanks to three big innings and a game-winning two-run single by DiVirgilio  in the Mountain Lions' 8-7 comeback victory over Edinboro in game two.

CU began to dig into Edinboro's four-run lead in the third inning when Lewis drew a walk followed by Morris crushing her third home run of the year over the left field fence to make it a 4-2 game.

Concord proceeded to take its first lead of the contest after a three-run fourth inning that featured a two-run single by Kristen Rose and an RBI-single by McDougall which put Concord up 5-4 on Edinboro through four innings of play.

Edinboro answered back with three runs of its own in the sixth inning to retake the lead at 7-5. However, Concord fought back in the bottom half of the frame by way of a two-out rally that started with a ground rule double by Lewis that plated Jessica Seymour, who singled earlier in the inning, to make it a one-run ballgame.  Following a Morris walk to load the bases, DiVirgilio completed the comeback with a single to centerfield that allowed Lewis and Rose to cross home plate.

Reid, who replaced starter Sarah Herndon in the third inning, ensured the 8-7 win by pitching a perfect seventh inning. She allowed just three runs while striking out four batters over 4.1 innings for her first of two wins Saturday.

Rose finished the game 2-for-3, with two runs, two RBI and one stolen base from her spot atop the Mountain Lions' batting order. Morris tallied Concord's other two-hit performance, going 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBI, one run and one home run.

Game Three: Concord 2 – Mansfield 1 (Box Score)
After its high-scoring triumph over Edinboro, Concord closed out the day with a low-scoring 2-1 victory over Mansfield University.

Morris and McDougall broke open a 0-0 tie in the sixth inning by coming away with back-to-back run-producing hits. Mansfield scored its lone run on a fielding error in the seventh inning, but could not find a way to score the tying run.

Concord received another dominating performance from Reid, who improved her record to a team-best 7-1 on the season by surrendering just three hits and one unearned run over seven innings while striking out three Mountie batters.

McDougall and Morris both ended the contest 2-for-3 with one RBI apiece. McDougall's sixth inning double was CU's only extra base of the contest.

Concord concludes its time at the Salem Invitational with a pair of games Sunday vs. Indiana (Pa.) at 10:30 a.m. and at 12:00 p.m. against California (Pa.).
