ATHENS, W.Va. - After an 11-day layoff from games, the Concord University softball team will play five contests in two days at the Salem Invitational in Salem, Va. Saturday and Sunday.
The Mountain Lions begin the invte 9:00 a.m. Saturday vs. Ohio Valley followed by back-to-back games against Edinboro and Mansfield. Concord concludes play Sunday with another doubleheader at agaisnt Indiana (Pa.) and California (Pa.).
RECORDS
• At 10-5 overall, the Mountain Lions are out to their best start to a season in school history.
• Ohio Valley, a former West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe, is 1-4 on the season with Edinboro and Mansfield entering play this weekend at 0-2 and 2-1, respectively. Indiana checks in at 2-2 on the year while California brings a mark of 3-2 into the competition.
ALL-TIME SERIES
• CU holds a 13-7 advantage against Ohio Valley in the all-time series. The Mountain Lions are 0-3 and 0-2 vs. California and Mansfield while Concord's games against IUP and Edinboro will be its first vs. both schools.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Concord ranks 19th in the nation in runs per game at 6.93.
• Individually, junior first baseman / pitcher 
Lacey McDougall is 37th in the country in RBI per game at 1.33.
• The offensive rampage by the Mountain Lions is thanks in part to their ability to hit with runners on base. CU is batting .359 with runners in scoring position (RISP) (55-for-153). McDougall and sophomore second baseman 
Kristen Rose lead the way by hitting .500 each with RISP; McDougall is 11-for-22 while Rose is 10-for-20.
• McDougall and Rose are also Concord's top two run producers with 20 and 18 RBI apiece. The duo, which is tied for a Concord-high 21 hits, have combined for five home runs from the top of CU's batting order.
• Freshman third baseman 
Kelsey Lineberger has hit home runs in back-to-back games. Her three homers on overall this season are tied with McDougall for the team lead.
• As a team, CU is 21-for-23 in stolen base attempts. Rose and freshman outfielder 
Lauren Lewis have paced Concord at 6-for-6 and 5-for-5, respectively, in steal attempts. Additionally, junior outfielder 
Jessica Seymour is 6-for-7 when trying for a stolen base.
• In addiiton to her five stolen bases, Lewis also leads the Mountain Lions in batting average (.419) and doubles (six) to go with one home run and nine RBI through the first 15 games of her college career.
• McDougall and sophomore pitcher 
Allie Reid have guided for the Mountain Lions in the circle. McDougall is 3-1 with an ERA of 1.99 while striking out 28 batters in 31.2 innings and giving up just nine earned runs. Reid, who leads the team in wins (five), strikeouts (31) and innings pitched (39.2), has an ERA of 3.35.
• Rose and Lineberger each take hitting streaks of at least five games into the Salem Invitational. Rose has a hit in eight straight games while Lineberger has at least one hit in six consecutive contests.
• Rose has also reached base safely in 15 games this season.
• With her next home run, sophomore catcher 
Alyssa Morris will move into sole possession of third place on Concord's all-time home run list.
• McDougall needs three more hits to move past Marsha Teaster (1995-98) for eighth all-time in career hits.
• Meanwhile, Seymour needs two more runs to move into seventh in runs scored.
• Freshman shortstop 
Alayna Furr has excelled in the field for Concord with team-high 25 assists while committing just one error in 40 chances for a .975 fielding percentage.
• The Mountain Lions have outscored their opponents 46-18 in the first two innings of games this year.
THE COACHES
• Now in her third season at Concord, head coach 
Alisa Tasler is 50-66 since taking over the program.
• OVU's Rob Graham is in the midst of his sixth season in Vienna, W. Va. He has a record of 84-140.
•  Edinboro head coach Dan Gierlak has been with the Fighting Scots for 24 seasons and has compiled a record of 356-468-3.
• Edith Gallagher has been the head coach at Mansfield for 24 seasons. She has a record of 361-422-1.
• IUP's Bill Graham has been in charge of the Crimson Hawks for five seasons. Graham is 113-49-1.
• Rick Bertagnolli is in his 21st season at California, tallying a record of 705-227.
