ATHENS, W. Va. – After playing six non-conference contests to open the season, the Concord University baseball team will embark on its 44-game Mountain East Conference schedule starting with a pair of doubleheaders this weekend vs. Fairmont State at Anderson Field. First pitch on both Saturday and Sunday is set for 12:00 p.m.

Records
• The Mountain Lions enter the weekend at 3-3 overall. Most recently, Concord took two out of three games against regional foe Pitt-Johnstown Feb. 22-23 at Anderson Field. Concord is currently ranked 30th in the nation by College Baseball Lineup and seventh in the Atlantic Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
• Fairmont State is still in search of its first win of the season after losing four consecutive games to Davis & Elkins to begin 2014

Mountain Lion Notes
• Since 2008, Concord is 91-28 at Anderson Field.
• The Mountain Lions swept the first MEC Player of the Week awards with senior first baseman
Joey Miller earning Hitter of the Week honors and senior
Ryan Weatherholtz being recognized as the league's Pitcher of the Week. Miller went on to be named the NCBWA's Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week.
• In three games, Miller hit .692 (9-for-13) with four runs, two home runs and seven RBI in addition to three doubles as well as on-base and slugging percentages of .692 and 1.385.
• Weatherholtz opened the UPJ series with a victory after striking out four batters and allowing just three runs in eight innings.
• For the season, Miller leads Concord in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (.875), hits (12), RBI (10) and home runs (two).
• Concord has won both games that Weatherholtz (1-0) has started this year. He has allowed no more than three runs in each of his starts and has given up just one extra-base hit in 13 innings pitched so far in 2014.
• The Mountain Lions have won 64.5 percent of games that Weatherholtz has pitched dating back to his sophomore season.

T.J. Brockway and junior outfielder
Ryan Johnston have also gotten off to quick starts to the season.
• Groves is hitting .417 (10-for24) with seven runs, three doubles and is tied with Miller with a team-high on-base percentage of .481. Brockway and Johnston have both driven in four runs with Johnston accounting for eight runs scored of his own.
• Brockway is in the midst of a team-best five-game hitting streak. Miller sophomore designated hitter

Andrew Seigel are all currently enjoying four-game hit streaks as well.
• Camp, Miller and Brockway have reached base in each game this season.
• After starting the season 2-for-18, Seigel has recorded hits four in his last seven at-bats.
• Coyle collected his first win of the season in Concord's 10-8 triumph over Pitt-Johnstown on Feb. 23. He is 5-1 in his last six starts going back to last season.
• Freshman pitcher
Nate Werner is yet to allow a run in 1.2 innings spanning two appearances for Concord. He has struck out four of eight batters faced.
Scouting Fairmont State
• FSU was picked to finish fifth in the MEC in the preseason coaches poll.
• Fairmont State is led by Phil Longnecker, who started his season by hitting .563 (9-for-16) with five runs, two RBI and three stolen bases.
• Jeremy Walter, Jacob Whitmore and Randy Tallhamer have all driven in four runs for the Falcons.
• As a team, FSU is hitting .264 while scoring six runs per game.
• Ryan Fenwick got the opening-game start for Fairmont State, allowing five runs on five hits and five walks in a 9-6 loss against Davis & Elkins.
The Coaches
•
Andrew Wright is in his fourth season at Concord. Since taking over the program, Wright has guided the Mountain Lions to a pair of conference titles and a record of 92-76.
• George Yanchak is in his seventh season in charge of the Falcon program. While at FSU, Yanchak has compiled a record of 97-183.
