Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – The Concord University softball team closed out its time at the Shaw University Softball Challenge Sunday by splitting a pair of games Sunday, losing to Seton Hill, 10-5, before defeating Alderson-Broaddus 16-2 in the nightcap.
After earning the split Concord finishes up its two days in Raleigh at 4-1, improving its overall record on the season 10-3.Â

Leading the way for CU against the Griffins were sophomore catcher/first baseman
Alyssa Morris, who went for 2-for-2 with an RBI and junior pitcher/outfielder
Lacey McDougall, who drove in two runs with a 1-for-3 performance.

McDougall (4-1) suffered the defeat, going two innings and allowing six runs and eight hits while striking out four batters.
Game Two: Concord 16 – Alderson-Broaddus 2 Five inningsÂ

Concord scored all of its runs in the first two innings and coasted to a 16-2 five-inning victory over Alderson-Broaddus.
Morris carried her momentum over from game one to lead Concord with four hits, five RBI and one home run, her second of the weekend.
McDougall bounced back from her loss against Seton Hill by throwing all five innings and giving up just one earned run on six hits and striking out three batters.
An RBI-single from Morris got the scoring started in the opening inning as she drove in Rose, who led the game off with a walk. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, freshman shortstop

Lauren Lewis. After a fielder's choice from DiVirgilio scored Morris, Seymour proceeded to clear the bases with an RBI-triple that brought home DiVirgilio, Furr and freshman outfielder
Sarah Herndon to give the Mountain Lions a 6-0 lead.
Concord continued to pile on the runs in the second inning with 10 runners crossing home plate. Rose and McDougall each had two-RBI singles with Morris capping off the inning for CU by crushing a three-run home run to left center field.
Morris is now 8-for-9 with five runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI over her last three games. She now sits in a tie for third place on Concord's career home runs list with 11.
McDougall improved her record to 4-1 in the circle for CU with the win. In addition to striking out three batters, McDougall went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI at the plate.
Lewis had three hits in four at-bats with three runs scored against A-B. Seymour rounded out Concord's top performers against Alderson-Broaddus, going 2-for-4 with one run scored and three RBI.
As a team, the Mountain Lions were 12-for-23 with runners in scoring position against the Battlers. Concord also batted 10-for-14 vs. Alderson-Broaddus with two outs.
After playing its first 13 games on the road, Concord returns home to host Carson-Newman for a doubleheader March 4.
