Concord Faces Glenville State, Wesleyan in MEC Play

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team will take to the road for two Mountain East Conference games 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Glenville State and 2:00 p.m. Sunday at West Virginia Wesleyan.

RECORDS
• Concord has compiled a record of 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league action.  

• GSC is 1-2 overall and owns a 1-1 mark in MEC play.

• West Virginia Wesleyan is seeking its first win as they are 0-4 and 0-2 in the MEC.

COACHES
• CU's Kenny Osborne is 213-215 in his 14th season at the school.

• Glenville State's Charles Marshall is 30-6 as he begins his second season.

• Michael Bari is in his first season at West Virginia Wesleyan.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Senior forward Jacqueline ranks among the national leaders in rebounds per game (rpg) at 11.0. Furthermore, Kestner has strung together four straight double-doubles to start the season, the longest streak any Mountain Lion since Jolysa Brown had seven straight in the 2011-2012 season.

• In addition to her team-leading  11 rpg, Kestner is lead the Mountain Lions in scoring with 14 points per game (ppg).

• Last time out in a Concord win at Urbana, junior forward Kylie Molisee grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds, becoming the first CU player to have 15 or more rebounds since Brown at the end of the 2011-2012 season versus Glenville State.

• Molisee is averaging is a double-double as well this season with 11ppg and 10rpg.

• At UU, sophomore guard Olivia Morgan had her best game as a Mountain Lion as she posted career-highs in points (12) and rebounds (nine).
Morgan is the best in the MEC at taking care of ball as she has an assist-turnover margin of 1.89.

• By making two more three-pointers, senior forward Rachel Artrip will tie Holly Bibb for 10th all-time on career three-pointers made at Concord with 95.

• Dating back to last season, senior guard Melea Smith has made at least one three-point basket in nine of 11 games including all four this season. Smith is tied for sixth in the MEC in three-pointers (eight).
 
SCOUTING GLENVILLE STATE
• The Pioneers are the defending MEC regular season and tournament champions.

• GSC is the second-highest scoring team in the conference averaging 87.0ppg.

• Keyanna Tate is second in the MEC in ppg at 20.0.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
• The Bobcats possess two of the best defenders in Adrian Cunningham  and Kiki Devane as the two rank third and fourth in the MEC in steals.

• Allie Brown is just ahead of Smith in three-pointers and tied for fifth in the league with nine.

UP NEXT
Concord will travel to the Rollins Tournament December 15-16. The Mountain Lions will play Rollins first.
