INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team won its third match in a row and fourth match in five as they defeated West Virginia State in four sets (25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22) Friday night at the Walker Convocation Center.
Concord matches its win total from last season by improving to 16-12 overall and 5-8 in the Mountain East Conference. WVSU is now 5-20 this season and has a 3-11 mark in the league.
The Mountain Lions won the first two games of the match by grabbing leads of 18-13 and 16-9, respectively, to take control of the match. During the first set, senior middle hitter
Sarah Jones had 10 of her game-high 19 kills in the first set in 11 attempts.
The Yellow Jackets fought back to force a fourth set by finishing the third game on a 10-2 run.
However, Concord assured they would not need a five and decisive set to secure its 16
th win of the season. The final set featured nine ties and three lead changes. CU finished the match on a 5-2 run with freshman middle hitter

Jones completed her 19-kill night by also hitting .531, her second-highest percentage of the game and the highest she has with at least 20 attempts this season.
Willis finished with 10 kills and a season-high 25 digs to lead the Mountain Lions in digs. Senior libero
Amanda Walker was just one off Willis' pace, tying her personal best of 24 digs.

Casey Mandeville added 17 assists and two service aces.
The Mountain Lions will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they travel to the University of Charleston for a 1:00 p.m.
