Concord Completes Regular Season Road Schedule at W.Va. State, Charleston

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team will hit the road for the final this season when it travel to West Virginia State Friday at 7:00 p.m. before visiting the University of Charleston at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

RECORDS
• Concord enters play this weekend with a 15-12 record overall and a 4-8 mark in the Mountain East Conference sitting ninth in the conference standings.

• West Virginia State is 5-19 overall and 3-10 in MEC play. The Yellow Jackets are 11th in the league rankings.

• Meanwhile, Charleston occupies the last playoff spot coming into the weekend with a 6-17 overall mark, but a half-game ahead of CU at 5-8 in the MEC.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• With four matches left this season, the Mountain Lions have a chance to surpass last year's win mark of 16 and win the most matches since 2002 when they won 20.

• CU is 6-4 in its last 10 matches including most recently defeating UVa.-Wise in three sets Tuesday.

• Senior middle hitter Sarah Jones finished with 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .385 against the Cavaliers. Over her last nine matches, Jones has at least 10 kills in seven matches.

• For the season, Jones has a team-high 323 kills while hitting .271. Additionally, Jones  is already tied for ninth on the single-season kills list in school history

• Senior outside hitter Brytni Willis was the second Concord player to end her night versus UVa.-Wise with at least 10 as she recorded 14 along with 13 digs. The Silver Spring, Maryland native has 300 kills this season.

• Jones and Willis are the only set of teammates in the MEC that have at least 300 kills.

• Senior setter Nikki McMillan has recorded at least 10 assists in 25 of CU's 27 matches and currently has a streak of five straight games with 10 or more helpers

• McMillan needs 40 assists to record the first 500-assist season of her career.

• Earlier this season in a sweep of West Virginia State, freshman setter Casey Mandeville registered 16 assists while Jones came away with 12 kills, seven digs and seven blocks in the win.

• Against Charleston in a five-set loss, Jones (18 kills, 18 digs) and Willis (16 kills, 17 digs) both recorded double-doubles while freshman middle hitter Alexis Elliott notched a career-high seven kills and freshman outside hitter Lisette Roldan chipped in nine kills.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA STATE
• The Yellow Jackets have won the last two meetings between the teams that have been played at West Virginia State.

• Hayley Kirby is seventh in the MEC in service aces per set (.38).

SCOUTING CHARLESTON
• Charleston has won the last six meetings with CU dating back to 2010.

• However, UC has lost three of its last five matches overall.

Concord will return for the penultimate time Friday, Nov. 7 for Senior Night against Glenville State.
