Concord Downed at Notre Dame

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - The Concord University men's soccer team fell 4-1 in its final road game of the season at Notre Dame College in Mountain East Conference play.  

Notre Dame (10-3-2, 7-2-2 MEC) scored a first half goal to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Falcons scored two quick goals in the second half to extend their lead to 3-0. 

Freshman midfielder Royale Johnson netted his team-leading fifth goals as Concord (2-12-1, 2-9 MEC) trimmed the deficit to 3-1 with 28 minutes left in the contest. Johnson's goal was assisted by freshman midfielder Chris Brown, who picked up his first point of the season. NDC added an insurance goal eight minutes later.

Junior goalkeeper Mitchell Thompson made five saves for the Mountain Lions while fellow goalkeeper Henry Boyle also made a save for cU. 

Also on Saturday, senior defender Cole Cloonan broke the all-time record for games played at Concord. Cloonan has now played in 68 career games at Concord. 

For the game, Notre Dame held edges in total shots (20-4), shots on goal (11-2) and corner kicks (17-1). 

CU will conclude its season at home Wednesday against nationally-ranked Charleston. 

Prior to the contest, Cloonan and senior Cameron Russell will be recognized for their play at Concord over the last four years.
