Concord Falls to Urbana in Three Sets

Box Score ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team was swept in three sets by Urbana (25-19, 25-12, 25-17) at the Carter Center Saturday morning in Mountain East Conference play.

Concord (10-10, 2-6 MEC) was paced by senior outside Brytni Willis who finished with 12 kills marking the fourth time in five games Willis has finished a match with double-digit kills. The Silver Spring, Maryland native needs just 16 kills to record 1,000 kills for her career.

After the first set was tied at 13-13, Urbana (10-9, 7-1 MEC) went on a 7-3 run in the first game and never looked back in the entire match on its way to the three-set win.

The Mountain Lions registered more blocks than the Blue Knights (13-8) as senior middle hitter Sarah Jones and freshman middle hitter Alexis Elliott had five and four blocks respectively.

Senior setter Nikki McMillan tallied 14 assists for CU while freshman setter Casey Mandeville had 12 assists. Senior libero Amanda Walker had a team-high 11 digs for Concord.

The Mountain Lions will continue their current nine-game homestand when they host Davis & Elkins at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday before playing WVU Tech at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
