WHEELING, W.Va. - The Concord University women's basketball team could not overcome a 25-point halftime deficit as they fell 70-55 to Wheeling Jesuit at the McDonough Center Monday afternoon.
After a rough first half Concord (4-5, 2-4 MEC) found itself down by as many as 27 points with 17 minutes remaining in the game before storming back to cut the WJU lead down to just 10 points with 5:34 left in the contest. That would be as close as the Mountain Lions would get as the Cardinals (5-5, 2-4 MEC) quickly stretched the margin back out to 16 points less than three minutes later en route to the 15-point victory.
Andrea Bertrand continued her outstanding play for Concord, scoring a game-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting (62.5 percent) from the field and grabbing a team-best five rebounds. Monday's game marked the third time in four games that the junior forward has scored at least 20 points.

Sissy Wagner, the reigning Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, played a great all-around game contributing 13 points, three assists and four steals. Like Bertrand, Wagner shot a high percentage from the floor after going 6-for-10 from the field (60 percent).

Jacqueline Kestner chipped in four points, three rebounds and two steals.
CU tied a season-high with 12 steals as well as establishing a new season-high in forced turnovers with 29. The Mountain Lions held advantages in points in the paint (28-24), points off turnovers (22-13) and steals (12-9).
For the game, Concord shot 37.7 percent from the field (23-for-61) and 1-for-18 from three-point range (5.6 percent). Wheeling Jesuit was led by Taneka Lewis who scored 12 points.
Concord will look to return to its winning ways when it hosts Charleston Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
