Men's XC Finishes Second at Pre-MEC Meet

ATHENS, W.Va.--The Concord University men's cross country team hosted the Pre-MEC Meet Saturday afternoon at Pipestem State Park as they finished second.

Leading the way for CU was junior Jordan Weitzel, who finished 10th with a time of 28:31. It marked the third time in as many meets that the Mountain Lions have had a difference lead runner.

Freshman Cimarron Nicely placed 18th with a time 28:53 on the 8K course. Sophomore Jake Munsey and reigning Mountain East Conference Runner of the Week freshman Brandon Lee nabbed 20th and 21st crossing in 29:01 and 29:02.

Sophomore Cody Honaker completed the Mountain Lions' top five as he placed 24th with a time of 29:15.

Also competing for Concord was Jacob Doss (26th/29:31), Brad Dugan (40th/30:47), Tony Tredway (46th/31:30) and Aaron Martin (57th/33:27).

In the team race, West Virginia Wesleyan won the meet with 27 points. Concord held off West Liberty and UVa.-Wise for second finishing with 85 points.

The team will next compete at the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro, N.C. on September 28.
