Overall Individual Results
CONWAY, S.C. – Led by a standout performance from freshman
Brandon Lee, the Concord University won the Division II team portion of the ninth annual Coastal Carolina Cross Country Invitational.
The CU men beat fellow Division II competitors Catawba and Francis Marion. Individually, Lee placed 17th overall, and first among all D-II runners, with a time of 16:58.37.
Lee was followed closely on the course by teammate junior
Jordan Weitzel, who completed the 5k course in 17:01.55 to finish in 18th place.
Concord's third finisher on Friday was sophomore
Cody Honaker, whose time of 17:04.66 was good enough for 20th overall in the 70-man field.
Three more Mountain Lion runners also posted top-30 finishes with freshman Cimmaron Nicely placing 24th (17:11.26) followed by sophomore
Jake Munsey in 26th place (17:20.57) and sophomore
Jacob Doss in 27th place (17:22.37).
Rounding out Concord's entries on Friday night were freshman
Tony Tredway (41st – 18:16.71), sophomore
Brandon Perdue (43rd – 18:24.64) and sophomore
Aaron Martin (48th place – 19:08.70).
CU will be back in action again when it hosts the first of its three home meets this season Sept. 21 at the Pre-MEC meet in Pipestem, W. Va.
