MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• The Mountain Lions started its 2013 campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Ferrum College last week behind a two-goal performance by sophomore midfielder
Ryan Forde.
• In addition to Forde's scoring exploits, Concord received a goal from sophomore defender
Patrick Ebbs, the first of his collegiate career.
• Sophomore defender
Alex Williams and senior midfielder
Tyler Farrar assisted on the two scores. Farrar's assist was the eighth of his career.
• Forde took a team-high five shots, three of which were on goal in Concord's win against Ferrum.
• The Ferrum victory marked the 50th win for head coach
Steve Barrett as Concord's men's head coach.
• Sophomore goalie
Mitchell Thompson stopped six shots against Ferrum to earn the second shutout victory of his young career. The six saves tied for the third most in his two years as a Mountain Lion.
• However, the Maroon and Gray were unable to carry over the momentum from its season-opening win into their second contest of the season, as the University of Findlay was able to get the best of Concord with a 3-0 victory.
• Forde once again led CU in shots with two against the Oilers.
• Thompson stopped four shots and freshman goalie
Trevor Hoxworth saw the field for the first time in his collegiate career, playing the final 16:14 of the match in relief of Thompson.
• The Mountain Lions have sent out the same starting lineup for its first two games this season. The unit has consisted of Thompson, Forde, Farrar, Williams, senior
Sebastian Escobar, sophomore Kris Robbins, freshman
Corey Gaylor, sophomore
Troy Silva, junior
Cole Cloonan, sophomore
Joe Sweet and sophomore
Tyler Harris.
• The quintet of Ebbs, sophomore
Isaac Jordan, sophomore Matt Guilliams, sophomore
David Nwankwo and redshirt freshman
Deni Deyanov have been CU's top reserves thus far as all five players have appeared in both games off the bench.
• Coming into this week's games, Farrar has appeared in 31 consecutive games and has made seven straight starts. The only player with a longer active streak of starts is Silva (eight games).
• Wednesday's match against Virginia Intermont will be the rubber game between the two schools; the all-time series between both institutions is tied at 1-1-1.
• Virginia Intermont won the last meeting 1-0 in 2011, the sides tied 5-5 in 2010 and Concord came away with a 3-1 victory in 2009.

• West Virginia Wesleyan, which was picked to finish third in the Mountain East Conference preseason poll, is 1-0-1 this year; boasting a 5-1 win over Alderson-Broaddus and a 1-1 tie vs. Millersville.
