Concord Swept By Alderson-Broaddus, 7-4, 12-1

Freshman Alyssa Morris combined to go 2-for-6 at the plate including her team-high sixth home run of the season in game two. Sophomore Jessica Seymour went 2-for-4 against Alderson-Broaddus with her fourth home run of the season.

Game One: Concord 4 - Alderson-Broaddus 7
ith Alderson-Broaddus leading 2-0, Concord got its bats going in the bottom of the third inning.

With the bases loaded and no outs, sophomore Rachael Mack drew a walk, bringing in sophomore Whitney Carrigan who had reached on a walk. Senior Stephanie Harper then  knocked a single to right field to score sophomore Lacey McDougall, who had reached base on a single.

CU took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Seymour crossed the plate from third base off of McDougall's second hit of the game. Seymour reached third after leading off the inning with a single and then stealing second and third.

Concord held onto its one-run lead until the Alderson-Broaddus plated five runs in the sixth inning to pull ahead 7-3.

In the seventh inning and with the Mountain Lions down to their final out, Seymour went deep for Concord's first home run of the game to make it a 7-4 game. However, A-B pitcher Ali Neace ended any thoughts of a comeback by retiring bouncing back from Seymour's home run to force Morris into a ground out to end the game.

As a team, Concord out-hit Alderson-Broaddus with 9-5.

McDougall was 2-for-2 at the plate with one RBI and a run. Seymour also recorded an RBI with her two hits. Five other Mountain Lions registered hits as well.

McDougall (7-9) put in 5.1 innings of work before Mack (3-8) finished out the last 1.2 innings. McDougall struck out one batter while and gave up three hits. All seven of her runs allowed were unearned.

Game Two: Concord 1 - Alderson-Broaddus 12 (Five Innings)
Alderson-Broaddus ran away with game two after scoring four runs in the first inning, four in the fourth and four in the fifth.

Concord's lone run of the game came off of Morris' home run in the first inning.

Morris, Wood, Harper and freshman Katie Allen all posted one hit in the nightcap with Allen's being the first of her young career.

Mack (3-8) suffered the loss in the circle after surrendering eight runs (four earned) on eight hits while striking out three batters over 3.2 innings. Harper relieved Mack and gave up four runs on five hits in the final 1.1 innings of play.

Concord continues their home opening weekend against Fairmont State 1:00 p.m. Sunday in Athens, W. Va.
