GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Concord University softball team ended its weekend on a down note Sunday, losing a pair of games at Seton Hill 10-8 and 7-3.
The Mountain Lions (16-25, 4-12 WVIAC) trailed 10-5 heading into the seventh inning of game one, but posted three runs in their final at-bats before having their comeback attempt cut short with the game-tying run on deck.
Freshman
Alyssa Morris went 1-for-2, with two runs, two RBI and two walks while also hitting her seventh home run of the season.
Senior
Stephanie Harper drove in a pair of runs and had one double. Senior
Becca Gleason and sophomore
Hayley Wade both recorded two-hit games. Gleason also scored two runs and Wade drove in her 18th run of the season on a RBI-double in the first inning.
In addition to striking out five batters over 4.1 innings, sophomore
Lacey McDougall (8-12) went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one home run, her first of the season.
Concord held a narrow 2-1 lead through 2.5 innings in game two, but a four-run third inning by the Griffins proved too much for Concord to overcome in the 7-3 nightcap loss.
Harper led the way in game two by hitting her first home run of the season in a 2-for-4 game at the plate. Junior pitcher
Rachael Mack (4-10), who threw a complete game, helped her own cause with one RBI.
Morris added one hit in the contest while also drawing a season-high three walks. Morris' on-base percentage of .420 is just six points shy of Gleason's team-best OBP of .426.
Concord will look to snap its four-game losing streak when it hosts Charleston for a doubleheader starting 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
