CU Set for Weekend Games at Shepherd and Seton Hill

ATHENS, W. Va. - Fresh off of a doubleheader sweep of Davis & Elkins, the Concord University softball team will ride its momentum into weekend contests at Shepherd and Seton Hill. The four-game road trip will mark the final time this season that the Mountain Lions will play back-to-back road doubleheaders.

Records
Concord is 16-21 overall and 4-8 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Shepherd is 15-19 overall, but 6-4 in league play while Seton Hill begins the weekend 7-13 and 5-5 in the conference.

The Series
Since the 1995 season, Concord trails Shepherd 17-9 and Seton Hill 6-3. However, the Mountain Lions have won their last two games against Seton Hill.

The Coaches
Alisa Tasler is in her second season at Concord and is 36-50 since taking over the program. Leslie Lopez has compiled a 166-123 record in six seasons at Shepherd while Paul O'Brien is in his first season at Seton Hill.

Up Next
Concord will play 10 of its final 12 games of the 2013 season at home. CU hosts Charleston April 17 at 3:00 p.m. before playing at Bluefield State in its final road games of the season on April 20. Concord then closes out the year with eight straight home games.

Last Time Out
• Concord swept a doubleheader at Davis & Elkins, 2-1, 17-5.

• Junior Rachael Mack threw six shutout innings to earn the win in game one and sophomore Lacey McDougall gave up just one run in the seventh to earn her first save.

• Sparked by three RBI apiece from senior Becca Gleason and freshman Alyssa Morris, CU had its second-highest scoring output of the year in its 17-5 win in game two.

Scouting Concord
• Gleason is having a career-year for the Mountain Lions having already produced personal bests in runs scored (31), hits (45), RBI (21) and triples (4) while on pace to set a career-high in batting average (.388).

• Gleason has 13 multi-hit games this season. She also leads the WVIAC in both hits and triples.

• Sophomore Jessica Seymour and Morris will bring respective seven and six game hitting streaks into the weekend.

• Morris leads Concord in home runs (six, RBI (28) and slugging percentage (.596). Her six home runs leave her just three away from tying Ashley Jackson's single-season CU record of nine home runs.

• Seymour, Concord's speedy centerfielder, has a team-high 12 steals on the season and is batting .354 on the year.

• Sophomore Hayley Wade snapped a five-game hitless streak in Concord's 17-5 win at Davis & Elkins with a 3-for-3, two-run, two-RBI, two-walk, one-double performance.

• Freshman Katie Allen collected the first hit of her young career against Alderson-Broaddus on April 6.

• Mack has given up just one unearned run in her last 10.2 innings pitched.

• In addition to batting .312 and ranking second for Concord with 24 RBI, sophomore Lacey McDougall is also 8-10 with one save, a 3.36 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 116.2 innings pitched.

• As a team, Concord leads the WVIAC in hits (301) and trails WV Wesleyan (200) for the league lead in runs scored by a single run with 199.
