ATHENS, W. Va. - The Concord University softball team returns to action 4:00 p.m. Friday for its first West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games of the season when the Mountain Lions travel to Vienna, W. Va. to play Ohio Valley University.
Records
The Mountain Lions enter conference play with an overall record of 12-11 on the season. CU has won six of its last seven games, after splitting a pair of games last week at Lees-McRae.
The Fighting Scots are 7-7 this season. The Fighting Scots, who will also be playing in their first WVIAC games of the year Friday, enter the doubleheader on a three-game losing streak.
All-Time Series
Concord is 13-7 against Ohio Valley since the 1995 season, including an eight-inning, 4-3, win in their last meeting in 2012.

Scouting Concord

Alyssa Morris and senior
Becca Gleason have been the heart of the Mountain Lions' offense this season.
• Morris combined to go 3-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI against Lees-McRae. Morris' two home runs give her a WVIAC-best five for 2013. Morris also leads the WVIAC with 20 RBI.
• She is just four home runs short shy of tying Ashley Jackson for the most home runs of by Concord player in a single season since CU moved to Division II.
• McDougall is enjoying a 12-game hitting streak and holds the top spot for CU and the WVIAC with 33 hits. McDougall has eight doubles, a triple, and 18 while batting .412 (second overall for CU).
• Gleason continues her momentum at the plate, leading the team in many categories including a .435 batting average and 22 runs scored. Within the WVIAC, Gleason leads the conference in runs scored and is 10th in the nation in triples (4).

Jessica Seymour's seven stolen bases rank second in the league.

Stephanie Harper (3-0) tops the Mountain Lions with an ERA of 2.59 followed by McDougall (5-7) at 3.38, and junior
Rachael Mack (3-4) at 4.94.
• Mack improved her record and ERA after striking out three batters on 10 hits in seven innings of work, only giving up one earned run.
• Concord offense is easily one of the best in the WVIAC. The Mountain Lions currently leads the conference in runs scored (142) batting average (.339), hits (211), stolen bases (30) and on-base percentage (.384).
• The Mountain Lions are tied with WVIAC rival Fairmont State with a conference-best five shutouts on the season.
• Concord has thrown a total of 75 strikeouts, averaging 3.3 per game in 2013.
• CU is 7-1 this season when leading after four innings and 6-3 when scoring at least one run in the first inning.
Scouting Ohio Valley
Ohio Valley is led by Donna O'Bryant, who is hitting .353 with nine RBI. Maddison Wallace is 3-2 on the season with a 1.50 ERA.
