ATHENS, W. Va. - The Concord University women's basketball team suffered a 75-55 loss to Bluefield State in its regular-season finale Saturday at the Carter Center.
The Mountain Lions close out the regular season 7-21 overall and 6-16 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Lady Blues boosted their overall record to 13-12 overall and 11-11 in the WVIAC.
Concord will travel to play at Seton Hill 7:00 p.m. Monday in the first round of the WVIAC Tournament.
Saturday was the final home games for Mountain Lions seniors
Katy Somerville and
Tanisha Williams. The pair was honored in a ceremony prior to the game's opening tip.
The duo finished up their home career's by leading Concord in scoring. Williams had a team-high 14 points and came one rebound short of back-to-back double-doubles. Somerville scored 11 points in what was her second double-digit scoring effort in the last three games.
Junior center
Sammi Webster was the third CU player to hit double figures with 10 points, all of which came in the first half. Webster also produced a game-best four steals.

Rachel Artrip with nine points and freshman guard
Leslie Mack with seven points.
Junior guard Stephanie Wagner, the nation's leader in assist/turnover ratio, dished out six assists and sophomore forward
Jacqueline Kestner grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Concord forced 21 Lady Blues turnovers and scored 24 points off of the miscues. As a team, the Mountain Lions went 19-for-59 (32.2 percent) from the field, 13-for-20 (65.0 percent) at the free throw line, and 4-for-16 (25.0 percent) from three-point range.
The first half was a back-and-forth contest in which neither team led by more than five points. However, Concord was able to take a 34-32 lead into halftime thanks to Webster's 10 points as well as seven points each from Somerville and Williams in the opening 20 minutes.
Concord shot 41.2 percent from the field in the first period, but went cold in the second half; shooting just 20 percent (5-for-25) from field goal range to end the game.
The Lady Blues finally overcame Concord's lead for good when they took a 42-41 lead just under seven minutes into the period. Despite its poor shooting, Concord was able to keep the game close until a 12-3 Bluefield State extended its lead to 60-49 with a 12-3 run midway through the half.
Concord cut the deficit to just six points at 60-54 with four minutes to play, but Bluefield State scored 15 of the contest's final 16 points to earn the 75-55 win.
Bluefield State's leading scorer Charlene Diggs ended the game with 20 points thanks in large part to an 11-for-12 day from the free throw line.
