Concord to Play #17 Glenville State and West Virginia Wesleyan

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University women's basketball team will resume play after the Thanksgiving break with a home game against nationally-ranked Glenville State before going on the road against MEC foe West Virginia Wesleyan.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• The Mountain Lions will be seeking their first Mountain East Conference win.

• Glenville State enters Thursday's contest nationally ranked by the Women's Basketball Coaches

• Association at number 17 with a 4-1 record overall; meanwhile, Wesleyan starts the week at 2-3 overall.

• Junior guard Sissy Wagner is averaging 21.3 points per game over her last three games.

• Entering league play Thursday, Wagner ranks third in the MEC in scoring (18.8 ppg) and fourth in assists (5.6 apg)

• Meanwhile, junior forward Andrea Bertrand sits second in the conference in rebounding (8.8 rpg)

• Bertrand has already recorded two double-doubles on the season including a 13 point, 12 rebound effort against Urbana Nov. 25.

• Junior forward Jacqueline Kestner is ranked third in offensive rebounding at 4.2 per game while Bertrand is right behind her at 4.0 offensive boards per contest

• As a team, Concord is third in the conference in offensive rebounding at 17.6 per game.

• The Mountain Lions have had at least 40 rebounds in five straight game. The last time CU had five straight games of at least 40 rebounds was Jan. 14-23 2010.

• The last two times out the Mountian Lions have lost a pair of three-point contest. They fell to Notre Dame 80-77 Nov. 23 before losing to Urbana 78-75 on Nov. 25.

• In the Urbana game, Webster tied her career high in rebounds by snagging nine

• Kestner also matched her career high in rebounds against the Blue Knights with 12.

• The Mountain Lions will be seeking to make at least five three-pointers for the fourth consecutive game when they square off agaisnt GSC. Concord had a string of five consecutive games last season (Feb. 4-11) where they made at least five triples.

• Junior guard Rachel Artrip and Wagner each have scored at least 20 points twice this season.

• Only nine players in the conference have accomplished such a feat and only West Virginia State has more than one player on the list along with CU.

• Concord has shot 19 more free throws than its opposition this year leading to a +12 differential at the charity stripe in favor of the Mountain Lions

• In fact in three of the five games this year, CU has made more free throws than its opponents has attempted during the game

• With two outstanding games against Glenville State and West Virginia Wesleyan, Wagner would become the first CU player to score 20 points in four straight contests since former All-American center Jolysa Brown accomplished the feat in nine straight games at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

• Bertrand and Kestner have combined for three double-doubles early in the season

• Last season as a team, Concord combined for just 12 double-double  for the entire season with six of them coming from Kestner.

• Glenville State possesses the nation's highest-scoring offense at 110.6 points per game.

• The Pioneers also lead the MEC in turnover-ration with at +16.2, 11 forced turnovers better than second place.

• W.Va. Wesleyan has three of the top six steals leaders in the MEC in Kacey Johnson, Kiki DeVane and Allie Brown

A CONCORD WIN WOULD
• A win over Glenville State would snap a three-game losing streak to the Pioneers.

• A win over West Virginia Wesleyan would extend CU's winning streak over the Bobcats to three games.

• A win over both WVWC and GSC would move coach Kenny Osborne to within six wins of 200 career victories as Concord's head coach.
