ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University volleyball team returns to the Carter Center for its final home matches of the 2013 season this weekend starting 7:00 p.m. Friday vs. West Virginia State followed by a 1:00 p.m. Saturday contest against Charleston.

STANDINGS AND RECORDS
• Concord will look to snap a three-match losing streak and solidify its spot in the upcoming Mountain East Conference Tournament with a pair of wins this weekend. All 12 teams in the league qualify for the tournament with the top four teams in the standings receiving a bye in the opening round. Teams 5-8 in host the final four teams in the first round.
• At 13-14 overall and 5-7 in MEC play, CU currently finds itself tied for seventh in the conference standings with West Virginia State. With four matches remaining in the season, Concord can clinch a first-round home match by getting to seven conference victories.
• Charleston begins the weekend in third place in the conference standings with an overall record of 17-7 and a league mark of 9-4.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Prior to Friday's match, CU's 2013 senior class of
Rebecca Lovejoy,
Allie Pennington and
Jasmin Sutherland will be honored. All three players have left their mark at Concord throughout their careers.
• In four seasons at Concord the trio has been a part of 52 victories; which is more career wins than the program's previous seven senior classes.
• Lovejoy has played in 113 matches in four seasons, totaling 452 kills and 133 blocks (19 solo / 114 assisted). Lovejoy, who already ranks 15th for Concord in career kills, has started 19 of 26 matches played this season, recording 67 kills and 26 blocks.
• Sutherland will exit Concord as one of the most decorated middle hitters in school history, ranking first in career attack percentage (.266), fourth in total blocks (331) and sixth in solo blocks (94). Sutherland, who has started 25 of 26 matches played in 2013, leads Concord with 78 blocks and ranks third in kills with 184.
• A veteran of 91 collegiate matches, Pennington has proven to be a reliable team-leader, defender and server. Since arriving in Athens, Pennington has accumulated 495 digs and 74 aces over her four-year career. In 18 matches played as a senior, Pennington has tallied nine aces and 43 digs.
• Junior middle hitter
Sarah Jones enters the weekend ranked eighth in the conference in kills with 251 in addition to producing 72 blocks 204 digs and 16 aces.

Amanda Walker in aces (fifth / 39).and junior setter

Brytni Willis broke out of mini-slump with a 13-kill, 12-dig effort in Concord's 3-0 loss at UVa.-Wise earlier in the week. The double-double performance was her third of the season. For the year, Willis is second for Concord in both kills (238) and digs (241) while also compiling a career-high 32 blocks and 26 aces.
• Junior libero
Lindsey Smith has made 278 digs and is well on her way to leading the Mountain Lions in the category for a second consecutive season.
• As a team, Concord is second in the MEC in aces (168), third in opponent hitting percentage (.153) and fourth in blocks (193).
