BLUEFIELD, W. Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team erased a 15-point deficit to pull off a 70-66 comeback victory over Davis & Elkins College Saturday afternoon at the Currence Classic in Bluefield, W. Va.
The victory moves Concord's record above the .500 mark to 4-3 on the season. Davis & Elkins falls to 5-2 with the Mountain Lions' victory.
Concord found itself trailing by as many as 15 points at 36-21 with 4:40 to play in the first half before regrouping to end the period on a 13-3 run to head into the break down just five points. The run was sparked by six points from junior forward A.J. Williams and four from freshman guard
Ali Barnes.
Davis & Elkins proceeded to regain control of the game by pushing its lead to 64-51 with 8:15 remaining in regulation. However, the Mountain Lions had one final comeback in them in the form of a 15-2 spurt that evened the contest at 66-66 with 2:30 to play in regulation.

Four players scored in double figures for the Mountain Lions with freshman guard
B.J. Hamlet leading the way on a team-best 15 points. Since sitting out Concord's first four games of the season, Hamlet has scored 15.3 points per game over CU's last three contests. He went 6-for-11 from the field Friday night including a 3-for-6 effort from three-point range.
Shannon had his best scoring performance of the season with 13 points to go with seven rebounds, which matched sophomore forward
Nick Moyer the most by a Concord player vs. the Senators.
Rounding out Concord's offensive attack were Boyd with 11 points and Barnes with 10 points. Also contributing significantly to the Concord victory were Moats and Williams. Moats pulled in five rebounds and blocked two shots while Williams dropped in eight points.
The Mountain Lions' ability from the free throw line once again paid dividends Saturday as Concord converted 75 percent (15-for-20) of its attempts while Davis & Elkins made just 55.6 percent (5-for-9) of its attempts from the charity stripe.
Concord also held advantages over the Senators in forced turnovers (17-14), points off turnovers (25-14) and second chance points (16-5).
The Mountain Lions' smother defense held D&E to a field goal percentage of just 36.4 percent in the second half.
Bruce Komakech scored a game-high 18 points for Davis & Elkins in the losing effort.
Concord jumps back into Mountain East Conference competition when it hosts Glenville State 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Carter Center.
