MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Concord improved to 4-1 overall this season and 3-0 in MEC play with a 34-17 victory vs. Fairmont State in week five. The Mountain Lions begin the week along with Shepherd University as the only two MEC teams to remain unbeaten in league play.

• The Mountain Lions amassed 406 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers en route to the win. The 406 yards of total offense were the most for CU since gaining 417 against Shepherd a season ago. Concord's 37 points scored against FSU were the third most in the last two seasons; Concord scored 41 vs. Fairmont State in 2012 and 38 vs. WV State in earlier this season.

• Concord's vaunted defense continues to find itself among the nation's best in several categories. In addition to its top-rated passing defense, Concord also ranks second in total defense (228.2 ypg), third in turnovers gained (16) and fourth in scoring defense (9.8 ppg).

• Urbana enters the game at 3-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Blue Knights are led by senior quarterback DJ Mendenhall, who has already thrown for 1,665 yards (333.0 ypg) and 17 touchdowns.

• Concord has not allowed an opposing quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards since West Virginia Wesleyan's Adam Neugebauer totaled 446 yards in a 48-40 Concord victory on Nov. 12, 2011. Over the last two years, Concord has held quarterbacks to just 144.5 passing yards per game.

• After a relatively slow start to the season, sophomore running back Calvinaugh Jones has exploded over the last two weeks for 341 yards and three touchdowns to bring his season rushing total to 440 yards, the fifth most in the MEC.

• 10 of Jones' last 57 rushing attempts have gone for at least nine yards (17.5%) including three rushes of at least 45 yards.

• Jones' 209 rushing yards against Fairmont State were a career-high and the most by a CU back since Brian Kennedy ran for 303 yards against West Virginia Wesleyan in 2011.

• For the second consecutive week a member of the Concord defense earned MEC Defensive Player of the Week accolades. Junior cornerback Mike Carey garnered the honor after intercepting two passes and making six tackles against the Fighting Falcons in week five. He was also named a Beyond Sports Network Athlete of the Week for his efforts. Carey's award comes on the heels of senior safety Josh Clark's MEC Player of the Week award in week five.

• Sophomore wide receiver Tiko Henderson went over 100 yards receiving for the second time this season with his five-catch, 109-yard day against Fairmont State. For the season, Henderson leads the Maroon and Gray with 377 yards and one touchdown on 21 receptions. One of CU's top big-play threats, Henderson has five catches of at least 20 yards on the year.

• Senior linebacker Jake Lilly now has 312 career tackles, just four away from tying Mike Spradling for second place in Concord history and 74 away from Darryl Wilson's Concord-best 386. Lilly needs to average 12.3 stops per game the rest of the season to catch Wilson.

• Redshirt freshman Brian Novak had the first multi-touchdown game of his career against Fairmont State, rushing for one score and passing for another.

• In his first season as a collegiate quarterback, Novak's 896 passing yards rank fourth of all quarterback's in the MEC trailing only Mendenhall (1,665), Notre Dame College's Ray Russ (1,400) and Wesleyan's Jeremy Musselman (1,239).

• Sophomore kicker Andy Ellington continued his hot streak last week with a 10-point game against FSU. A week after breaking the CU record with a 48-yard field goal, Ellington matched the feat with another successful 48-yarder against the Falcons.

• Ellington now leads the conference in points by a kicker with 32. He has made four of his last six field goal attempts, three of which have come from at least 42 yards out.

• Junior defensive lineman Keith Ferguson and senior safety Davon Marion are tied for second on the team in tackles with 31. Marion also has two interceptions on the year while Ferguson trails only sophomore defensive lineman Ervin Moore (7 TFL) in tackles for loss with six.

• Redshirt freshman tight end Tony Miller caught a 33-yard touchdown pass against FSU. He now has three grabs for 42 yards on the season. In comparison, in 2012 Concord tight ends totaled five catches for 32 yards the entire season.

• Concord is just two wins away from recording its fifth consecutive winning season. The streak would be the fourth best in Concord history behind 1974-82 (nine seasons), 1987-92 (six seasons) and 1923-28 (six seasons).

• Other Concord players ranked among the MEC best include punter Andrew Huska (second in punting average), Henderson (fifth in receiving yards per game) and Lilly (first in forced fumbles, second in tackles).

SCOUTING URBANA
• Urbana's 3-2 start to the season has come off of wins vs. Notre Dame (38-19), Glenville State (12-9) and West Virginia State (62-10) and losses against Findlay (51-33) and Shepherd (28-21).

• Urbana's nationally-ranked passing attack features the aforementioned Mendenhall at QB and leading receiver Joe Webb, who has 34 receptions for 530 yards and five touchdowns on the year.

• D'Gary Wallace leads the defense. He ranks first in the MEC in tackles (54) and tackles for loss (11.5).

• Head Coach David Taynor is in his sixth season at Urbana. Taynor has led Urbana to three winning seasons in five years.
