FARMINGTON, Pa. – The Concord University men's golf team finished in eighth place Tuesday in the Challenge at Mystic Rock tournament in Farmington, Pa.
As a team, Concord finished the three-round event with an overall score of 949 (+85). Host California (Pa.) won the tournament with a score of 907 (+43). The Vulcans were followed in the top-five by Davis & Elkins (909 / +45), Charleston (912 / +48), Indiana (Pa.) (914 / +50) and Allegheny College (921 / +57). Davis & Elkins' Sebastian Bendsen finished at even par to earn medalist honors.
The Mountain Lions were led by senior
Evan Muscari, who finished in a tie for 16th place at +14 (230). After a disappointing opening-round score of 81, Muscari rebounded to card second and third round scores of 76 and 73 on the par 72 course to earn his fourth top-20 performance of the season.
Junior
Patrik Leveau followed close behind Muscari, placing 23rd overall at +18 (234). Leveau shot three consistent rounds of 79, 77 and 78.
Senior
Matt Morgan was Concord's third finisher. The former all-region honoree produced a score of +21 (237) to earn a top-30 finish in 27th place. Morgan shot an 83 in round one but came on strong over the final two rounds by shooting back-to-back scores of 77.
Rounding out Concord's competitors were freshman
Brady Noland in 53rd place (248 / +32) and junior
Phill Campbell in 79th place (299 / +83).
The Mountain Lions close out their fall schedule Oct. 13-15 at the inaugural Mountain East Conference Championship Tournament.
