ATHENS, W.Va.--Three runners claimed first or second team all-conference honors at the Mountain East Conference men's cross country championships to lead Concord University to a third-place finish Saturday morning at Pipestem State Park.
CU finished with 92 team points behind conference champions Wheeling Jesuit (27) and second place West Virginia Wesleyan (46). Notre Dame College (105) and UVa.-Wise (119) rounded out the top five.
Junior
Jordan Weitzel paced the Mountain Lions with a 10th place finish individually as he earned all-MEC first team honors. Weitzel completed the 8K course in 27:50.
A pair of freshmen,
Cimarron Nicely and
Brandon Lee, earned all-MEC second team accolades via their 12th and 19th place finishes. Nicely ran the course in 27:59 while Lee crossed the finish line in 28:19.
Sophomore
Jake Munsey just missed all-conference recognition after finishing 21st with a time of 28:34. He was followed by classmates
Jacob Doss and
Cody Honaker, who finished 31st and 33rd, respectively, clocking times of 29:39 and 29:50.
Senior
Brad Dugan ran to a 40th place finish with a time of 30:26.
Sophomore
Brandon Perdue and freshman
Tony Tredway finished right next to each in other in 47th and 48th place while sophomore
Aaron Martin finished 50th.
Wheeling Jesuit's Luke Holubeck took home MEC Runner of the Year honors by finishing in first place at 25:55.55.
The men will next compete at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships on November 9 at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa.
