Men's Soccer Falls to Notre Dame, 4-0

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University men's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked Notre Dame College 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field in a Mountain East Conference contest.

The Falcons, which entered the week ranked sixth in the country by the NSCAA, were able to jump on the board with two first-half goals in the 29th and 40th minutes. Notre Dame added to its lead with goals in the 57th and 72nd minutes in the second half of play to stay undefeated in MEC play at 10-1-0. Their overall record stands at 13-2-0.

The Mountain Lions were led by sophomore Ryan Forde, who took five shots, two of which were on goal. Sophomore defenseman Tyler Harris, senior midfielder Sebastian Escobar and freshman forward Cory Gaylor added one shot each.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mitchell Thompson stopped six shots in the losing effort.

For the game, Notre Dame held advantages over Concord in shots (16-8) and corner kicks (4-3).

With the defeat, the Mountain Lions fall to 3-11-2 on the year and 1-9-1 in conference play.

Saturday marked the final home regular season games for seniors Tyler Farrar and Escobar, who have appeared in a combined total of 131 games for the Mountain Lions.

Concord closes out itsseason on the road 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Charleston.
