Concord Takes Win Streak on the Road at NDC and Urbana

ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University volleyball team will take its four-match winning streak on the road with a pair of weekend contests against Notre Dame College on Friday and Saturday at Urbana in Mountain East Conference action.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions enter the weekend ranked seventh in the MEC at 11-10 overall and 3-3 in league play. Urbana sits one spot behind Concord in the conference standings with a record of 2-4 in league play and 6-11 overall. Notre Dame is last the league at 2-18 overall and 0-6 in conference play.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Last week, the Mountain Lions defeated UVa.-Wise, West Virginia Wesleyan, Bluefield State and Glenville State to push its record over the .500 mark on the season.

Junior middle hitter Sarah Jones became the first Mountain Lion to earn MEC Volleyball Player of the Week honors last week after helping CU to four wins in five days by recording 40 kills (3.08 per set), a .265 attack percentage, 16 blocks (1.23 per set) and 23 digs (1.77 per set).

For the year, Jones leads Concord in kills (193), ranks second in attack percentage (.233), third in blocks (58) and third in digs (144 / 2.03 per set).

As a team, the Mountain Lions lead the MEC in total aces (140) while also ranking second in blocks (161.5), fourth in attack percentage (.198), fifth in kills (731) and fifth in digs (926).

Individually, senior middle hitter Jasmin Sutherland is slotted second in the league in total blocks (67) and sixth in attack percentage (.324).

Other Concord athletes appearing on the MEC leaderboard include junior setter Amanda Walker in aces (third / 35), freshman middle hitter Lauren Richardson in total blocks (fourth / 61) and Jones in kills (seventh).

Freshman outside hitter Felicia Huerta is coming off of her top performance of her collegiate career in Concord's victory over Glenville State. Huerta posted a season-high seven kills to go with three blocks, one shy of her season-high.

Junior setter Nikki McMillan has tallied at least 20 assists in a match twice during Concord's winning streak and is averaging 17.4 assists per match over that stretch. For the season, McMillan has made 247 assists, eight behind Walker's team-high 255 assists.

Junior libero Lindsey Smith is well on her way to leading the Mountain Lions in digs for a second consecutive season. Through 21 matches, Smith has accumulated 207 digs, 24 more than second place junior outside hitter Brytni Willis (183).
