Women's Soccer Set to Host MEC Foes

ATHENS, W.Va.—The Concord women's soccer team will play two games this week at home. The first being Wednesday's "Pinkstrong" game against West Liberty. Saturday, Wheeling Jesuit will come to Anderson Field.

RECORDS and STANDINGS
After defeating Shepherd last week with the help of a hat trick from Kari Simon, Concord fell to West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday.

The Mountain Lions sit at 2-6-1 with seven points in Mountain East Conference play. The top four teams qualify for the MEC tournament. CU is six points behind third place Wheeling Jesuit and just three points behind West Liberty, Urbana and Charleston for fourth place.

SCOUTING CONCORD
This season the Mountain Lions are 1-1-1 at Anderson Field. Under coach Stefani Workman, Concord is 18-6-3 at home in four years.

Earlier in the season against West Liberty, the Mountain Lions were victorious on the road 2-1. The Mountain Lions struck early against the Hilltoppers with goals from Kari Simon and Abby Barber in the first 3:22 of the season. Goalkeeper Kristin Twomey stopped five shots in the win.

Concord lost to Wheeling Jesuit earlier in the season 2-1. Abby Barber scored for CU. Emily Cole picked up her only assist this season on Barber's goal. Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Wasylko saved five shots for the Mountain Lions in the defeat. 

The Mountain Lions have only given up four goals in the first half this season. They have outscored their opponents 6-4 in the first half for the year.

Simon and Barber rank third and ninth in the MEC in goals.

In just her freshman season, Twomey is already ranked sixth in career saves with 54. Wasylko ranks fifth in the same category with 103.

After the four game homestand, the Mountain Lions will finish the regular season against the University of Charleston on Oct. 30.
