ATHENS, W. Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team was unable to earn its first Mountain East Conference win as the University of Charleston defeated the Mountain Lions, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Field.

Thompson made two more saves for Concord and a shot by freshman forward
Corey Gaylor was stopped by Charleston keeper Justin Bryant to send the contest into halftime with the Mountain Lions trailing by one goal.
The Golden Eagles pulled ahead 2-0 off of a Connor Branson goal six minutes into the second half. Concord fired two more shots at the UC goal after the second score, but was unable to recover from the two-goal deficit as Charleston went on to claim its victory.

Thompson (2-4-1) stopped seven shots in the loss.
As a team, Charleston held edges over Concord in both total shots (16-6) and corner kicks (5-3).
The loss drops Concord's record to 2-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in MEC play. Charleston, which was ranked No. 22 in the NSCAA Coaches poll two weeks ago, improved to 5-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the MEC with the victory.
Concord will look to snap its four-match losing streak 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Notre Dame College.
