ATHENS, W. Va. - The Concord University men's basketball game will put its two-game winning streak on the line Saturday against one of its toughest opponents of the season when Fairmont State comes to the Carter Center in a game that features two of the top teams in the WVIAC.

Campers Get In Free:
The Concord University men's and women's basketball programs will hold a camp reunion when the Mountain Lions host Fairmont State for anyone who attended either teams' skills camps this past summer. Those who attended the camps will be granted free admission to both the women's and men's games as long as they wear the t-shirt each camper received from one of the two clinics.

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
Records: Both Concord and Fairmont State enter Saturday's game with matching 8-3 records. Concord has won its past two games and is 4-3 in the WVIAC. FSU is 6-1 in league play and has won its last three games.

Series: Since the 1993-94 season, Fairmont State leads the series vs. Concord, 16-10. Last season, CU and FSU split two games with each school winning on the other's home court.

Last Time Out: Concord defeated Ohio Valley, 86-66, for its largest win of the season. Fairmont State defeated Seton Hill 69-53.

Scouting Concord: One of the keys to Concord's two-game winning streak has been the scoring prowess of sophomore guard Mike Boyd, who has eclipsed the 20-point plateau the last two games.

• Boyd scored 22 points in CU's 72-68 win at Bluefield before going for a career-high 24 points in an 86-66 win at Ohio Valley.

• Boyd, who's per game scoring average has rose nearly three points in the last two games, has made 12-of-18 field goals and 17-of-22 free throws in the two games.

• Concord's +8.1 rebounding margin ranks 21st in the nation.

• As a team, the Mountain Lions are first in the WVIAC in rebounding defense (31.1), second in rebounding margin (+7.9) and fourth in three-point shooting (.375).

• Another key to Concord's recent wins has been the team's ability to get to the foul line. CU is 52-77 from the foul line in its last two games.

• The Mountain Lions are 7-2 when outrebounding opponents this season.

• Senior forward Damien Tunstalle, the WVIAC's eighth leading scorer, is 237 points away from 1,000 career points.

• Senior forward Gentry Shrewsbury had a season-high nine rebounds at Ohio Valley.

• Junior forward Nick Ruffin is averaging 8.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over last the four games.

• Sophomore guard Paul Byrd ranks second in the WVIAC in both three-point percentage and free throw percentage.

Scouting FSU: Four players average at least 10 ppg for FSU with Brendan Cooper leading the way at 15.0 ppg. Cooper also grabs 8.2 rebounds per game, the fifth best average in the WVIAC.

The Coaches: Former Concord standout Kent McBride is in his second season in charge of the Mountain Lion program. He has tallied a record of 25-15 in his time in Athens.

Jerrod Calhoun is in his first season at Fairmont State after spending the past few seasons on the West Virginia coaching staff.
