Men’s Basketball Travels to Seton Hill Saturday

ATHENS, W. Va. - With 12 games remaining in the regular season, the Concord University men's basketball team will look to start the homestretch of its season with a win at Seton Hill Saturday in an important West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

Records
Concord currently sits at 9-5 overall and 5-5 in the WVIAC. Seton Hill, which hosts Alderson-Broaddus Thursday before playing Concord, is 9-7 overall and 6-6 in league play.

• Concord and Seton Hill are both 3-2 in their last five games.

Series
Concord and Seton Hill have played just five times, with the Griffins taking four of the contests. CU's only win over SHU came in 2010-11 (86-75).

Scouting Concord
• With 12 more conference games to play this season, Concord is currently seventh in the WVIAC standings. If the season ended today, CU would host Pitt-Johnstown in the first round of the conference tournament.

• The Mountain Lions are shooting 37.6 percent from three-point range this season, which ranks third in the WVIAC and fourth in the Atlantic Region.

• Concord's +5.2 rebounding margin is fourth-best in the WVIAC and seventh-best in the region. CU has been out-rebounded just three times this season.

• Sophomore guard Thomas Brown came off the bench to make three three-pointers and 11 foul shots on his way to a career-high 28 points against West Liberty. The offensive explosion ended a four-game streak of Brown being held under 10 points.

• Freshman guard Cam Shannon made his first collegiate start against West Liberty and responded by producing season-highs of eight points and three rebounds.

• Also making his first start for Concord against West Liberty was sophomore forward Alex McGlothin, who finished with four points.

• Senior forward Damien Tunstalle, CU's leading scorer at 16.4 points per game, has made 27 of his last 31 free throws and 13-of-25 three-pointers.

• Sophomore guard Mike Boyd, who ranks fourth in the WVIAC in assist/turnover ratio (2.04), is averaging 17.0 ppg and shooting 46.7 percent from the floor in the last four games.

• Junior forward Nick Ruffin has grabbed at least six rebounds in six of his last eight games played. Ruffin is averaging 5.7 rpg since Dec. 3.

• Concord's bench has outscored its counterpart 10 times this season.

Scouting Seton Hill
The Griffins boast one of the top defenses in the league, giving up a WVIAC-low 65.1 points per game and holding opponents to a field goal percentage of 41.8.

Seton Hill, which has won its last two games, is led by Max Kenyi and Malachi Leonard. Kenyi is the team's leading scorer at 14.7 points per game while Leonard, who also averages 12.2 ppg, is SHU's main interior presence with 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks a contest.

The Coaches
Former Concord standout Kent McBride is in his second season in charge of the Mountain Lion program. He has tallied a record of 26-17 in his time in Athens. McBride already ranks eighth all-time in wins by a Concord coach despite not even having coached for two full seasons.

Tony Morocco is 134-129 in  nine seasons at Seton Hill.
