NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Concord University women's volleyball team lost a pair of 3-1 matches Friday at the Wildcat Invitational in New Castle, Delaware.
The losses drop Concord's record to 3-4 on the year.
The Mountain Lions began the day losing to the University of the Sciences 25-16, 18-25, 15-25 and 15-25 before ending the day with a 25-18, 23-25, 13-25 and 20-25 defeat against West Chester University.
Sarah Jones led Concord with a total of 22 kills and five blocks on the day.
Brytni Willis finished second on the team with 14 kills while also serving three aces.
Rebecca Lovejoy chipped in nine total kills in the two matches.
Nikki McMillan totaled 30 assists.
Concord won the first set vs. the University of Sciences, but quickly fell behind in the second set and did not lead for the remainder of the match vs. the school from Philadelphia. Jones recorded a double-double vs. U of Sciences off of 11 kills and 11 digs.
Amanda Walker produced a team-high 13 assists and two aces as well.
In their second match of the day, the Mountain Lions once again jumped out to a 1-0 advantage before falling in three consecutive sets to West Chester. Jones had 11 more kills and
Jasmin Sutherland ranked second on the the team with seven kills vs. the Rams. MicMillan finished the match with 18 assists..
Concord will look to get back on track Saturday when it plays Indiana University (Pa.) and Kutztown University on day two of the Wildcat Invitational. Matches are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
