Volleyball Loses in Five to East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - The Concord University volleyball team closed out the WVIAC-PSAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament on Saturday morning with a 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 25-23, 24-26, 12-15) loss to East Stroudsburg. CU's record now stands at 3-9 on the year.

The Mountain Lions dropped the first set but won the next two. The third set was anyones game, resulting in the Warriors grabbing the close win. The final set allowed East Stroudsburg to barely outhit Concord, .294 to .298, resulting in their victory of the set and the match.

Sarah Jones led the team with 10 kills as well as grabbing 10 digs and four blocks for her third double-double of the season. Amanda Walker and Nikki McMillan also notched a double-double during this match. McMillan had 25 digs and 10 aces. Walker with her first double-double had 14 digs and 10 aces. 

Jasmine Sutherland tied her career-high with 11 blocks paired with four kills. Lindsey Smith defended the back row with 19 digs. Kylie Purdue grabbed nine digs, seven kills, and five blocks.

The Mountain Lions will return to action Saturday (Sep. 22) when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan University for their first West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
