MEN'S GOLF: ON TO PHASE TWO

MOUNTAIN LIONS EARN 4th STRAIGHT BID TO NCAA DIVISION II NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Phase one is complete.

The Concord men's golf team finished the first step of its post-season journey Wednesday by finishing 3rd in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Region tournament.  By securing that spot, the Mountain Lions earn a berth in the National Championships later this month.

Phase two of CU's post-season will be from May 15-19 at the Cardinal Club Golf Club in Simpsonville, KY.  It's the fourth straight year CU will play in the national tournament. 

The Mountain Lions posted a 312 team score – their best of the tournament – in Wednesday's third and final round at the regional, played at the Hershey Country Club East Course in Hershey, PA.
CU finished the event at 939 and will be the only WVIAC squad to move on to nationals.

Evan Muscari was Concord's top individual performer, firing a 77 on Wednesday, his best round of the tournament.  Muscari finished tied for 18th place at 233.

Matt Morgan shot a 78 Wednesday to finish at 234 and tied for 20th. 

Sebastian Starud tied for 40th place after his 80 on Wednesday put him at 239.  Taylor Reilly posted a final round 81 to tie for 47th at 240.  Nathaniel Begley carded a 77 Wednesday – his top round of the regional – to join Reilly in the group at 47th place.
