The Concord men's golf team didn't end its season precisely how it wanted, but it still concluded with an impressive accomplishment -- the Mountain Lions' fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championships.

The Mountain Lions finished 19th after Thursday's third and final round of stroke play of the national tournament in suburban Louisville, KY.

Concord posted a 310 team score Thursday to finish one stroke back of St. Thomas Aquinas (NY).  The top eight squads in the 20-team field advanced to two days of match play which will determine the national champion.

Nathaniel Begley (left) was CU's top performer.  The freshman from Oak Hill, WV fired a 75 Thursday – the team's best round of the day – to end at 228, tied for 75th place on the individual leaderboard.  Begley recorded Concord's low round in two of three rounds on the par-72, 7036-yard Cardinal Club course.

Evan Muscari shot a 79 Thursday to finish tied for 86th at 232.  Matt Morgan also posted a third-round 79 to total 234 for the tournament, tied for 92nd.

Sebastian Starud followed his second-round 76 with a 77 on Thursday, tying for 97th on the leaderboard at 237.  Taylor Reilly finished with an 80 – his best round of the tournament – to end up tied for 104th at 250.

Other highlights of Concord's 2011-12 season included an average of 2.5 in the WVIAC's four conference tournaments, a victory at the Gannon Spring Mixer in April and a sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional tournament.
