CU DROPS DOUBLEHEADER AT SETON HILL

Concord's baseball team faced a stern test on Tuesday, visiting Seton Hill for a WVIAC doubleheader.  The Griffins are the defending conference regular-season champions and are ranked #2 in this week's NCBWA Atlantic Region poll.

SHU swept the Mountain Lion, 4-0 and 9-1, at the Griffins' home field in Greensburg, PA.

Seton Hill starter Brett Sullivan allowed four singles in a complete-game shutout.  Concord's best chance came in the top of the 2nd, when Ian Humphrey's single and Devin Smith's double put runners and 2nd and 3rd with two outs.  But CU couldn't bring in a run and Sullivan found his groove.  He retired 11 straight batters before Bret Blevins' one-out single in the top of the 7th.

Concord starter Kevin Mack settled in after a bumpy start.  The freshmen left-hander gave up four runs over the first two innings, but limited the Griffins to three singles after that in a complete-game five-hitter.

GAME TWO
BOXSCORE / PLAY-BY-PLAY

The Griffins (13-3, 6-0) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the 1st inning and their pitching kept the Mountain Lions in check.  Concord scored in the top of the 4th off SHU starter Clint White -- on Keith Morrisroe's triple and Blevins' RBI groundout -- but White and Christian Muth would combine to allow just three hits.

Up next for Concord (6-13, 2-2) is a visit to WVIAC South Division leader West Virginia Wesleyan for a three-game weekend series.  The Mountain Lions and Bobcats will play a seven-inning doubleheader on Saturday, March 17, and a single nine-inning game on Sunday, March 18.  First pitch both days is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Buckhannon, WV.
