Every time the Concord women's basketball team takes the floor for the rest of the season, it has a chance to remake history.

The Lady Lions set two new regular season school records in Saturday's 85-56 blowout of Bluefield State at the Carter Center:  Wins (21), and CU's highest finish in the WVIAC standings (2nd).

On Senior Day, the Lady Lions bolted out to a 19-2 lead less than six minutes after tipoff and took a 43-32 lead into halftime.  The visitors scored the first basket of the 2nd half, but CU replied with a 20-5 that put them ahead 63-39 and in command of the game.

Bluefield State would get no closer than 20 points after that.  Concord would stretch its lead to as many as 31 points in completing the season sweep of its intra-county rivals.

Concord outrebounded BSC 54-32, including a remarkable 35-10 advantage in the 2nd half.  CU forged a 30-16 advantage in offensive rebounds, 23-4 after halftime.

The Lady Lions had 19 assists on their 26 field goals and held Bluefield State to .382 (21-55) shooting from the floor.  Concord exploited BSC's defense for a significant advantage at the free throw line – CU finished 28-35 to 8-14 for the Lady Blues.

Anna Truckley
Jolysa Brown led the way for Concord, with 30 points and 15 rebounds.  It was her 18th double-double of the season (3rd-best in the nation) and the 45th of her career.  The senior center from Hinton, WV also blocked three shots to move into the conference lead in that category.

Concord's three other seniors also left their mark.  Holly Bibb scored a season-high 10 points, adding four assists and three rebounds.  Camisha Alexander added 10 points, six assists (without a turnover) and four rebounds.  Anna Truckley pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds, to go with four points, four assists and three steals.

Sophomore forward Andrea Bertrand shot 7-10 from the floor in finishing with 16 points.

All 14 Lady Lions played, and nine scored.

Charlene Diggs led Bluefield State (7-21, 6-16) with 16 points.

Up next for Concord (21-5, 18-4) is a meeting with Wheeling Jesuit in the first round of the WVIAC Tournament.
