BASEBALL: KNIGHTS' DAY

ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN TAKES TWO FROM CU

Randy Beard AB
For the third time in as many weekends, Concord's baseball team traveled south for a non-conference series.

For the first time this season, bad weather got in the way.

CU couldn't play the third game of its series at St. Andrew's Presbyterian College because of inclement weather on Sunday, a day after dropping the first two in a doubleheader to the Knights, 10-4 and 9-3, at Clark Field in Laurinburg, NC.

GAME ONE

Concord took the lead first when T.J. Brockway launched a two-run home run in the top of the 2nd. But SAPC would rally to take the lead in the bottom of the 3rd, and stayed in front the rest of the way.

GAME TWO

The Knights struck quickly, scoring five times in the bottom of the 1st on their way to completing the sweep.

Up next for Concord (0-8) is the 2012 home opener – although it will be held away from Anderson Field.

The Mountain Lions host Notre Dame College (OH) for a four-game non-conference series at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26.

The two teams will play seven-inning doubleheaders each day.  First pitch on Saturday is set for Noon; on Sunday, the twinbill begins at 11:00 am.
