ATHENS, W. Va. - The Concord University men's basketball team will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule Saturday at West Virginia Tech in what will be a rematch of last week's 93-78 Mountain Lion win over Tech.
MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• The Mountain Lions have controlled the recent series history against West Virginia Tech, winning seven of the last 10 contests. Since the 1993-94 season, Concord holds an 18-16 edge over the Golden Bears.
• Concord's 93-78 win vs. WV Tech on December 3 featured four Mountain Lions scoring in double figures. Sophomore guard
Thomas Brown led the way with a career-high 23 points.
• The 93 points scored by Concord was a season-high as were the 46 rebounds that the Mountain Lions grabbed.
• Concord heads to West Virginia Tech after losing at West Virginia Wesleyan, 86-72. Despite the loss, CU's record still stands at an impressive 5-2 overall. Just four games into conference play; Concord is 2-2 and ranked sixth in the WVIAC standings.

Gentry Shrewsbury had one of his best games of the season vs. Wesleyan, totaling 17 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Damien Tunstalle has delivered double-doubles in CU's last two games. He went for 15 points and 11 rebounds vs. Wesleyan. Tunstalle is the WVIAC's seventh leading scorer at 19.3 ppg on the year.

Eric Bailey made three, three-pointers and scored a season-high 13 points at Wesleyan.
• Brown is averaging 18 ppg over his last two contests.

Nick Ruffin made his first start for CU vs. Wesleyan and grabbed a season-best seven rebounds.

Paul Byrd ranks third in the WVIAC in free throw percentage (.900 / 18-20) and sixth in three-point percentage (.500 / 7-14).

Mike Boyd is eighth in the WVIAC in assists per game at 4.7.
The Coaches: Concord is led by
Kent McBride, who is in his second season in charge of the men's basketball program. McBride is 22-14 as a head coach.
West Virginia Tech is coached by Bob Williams, who is in his 11th season in charge of the Golden Bears' program. For his career, Williams has compiled an overall record of 252-243 as a collegiate head coach at West Virginia Tech, Glenville State and Jefferson Community College.
