Concord Returns Home for Game vs. UVA-Wise

ATHENS, W. Va. -
After losing a tough overtime contest at Alderson-Broaddus, the Concord University women's basketball team returns home to the Carter Center to play a non-conference game vs. UVA-Wise 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The Mountain Lions enter the game with an overall record of 2-3 and a 1-1 mark in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UVA-Wise is 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the Mid-South Conference (NAIA)

MOUNTAIN LION NOTES
• Since the 1993-94 season, Concord and UVA-Wise have played just once; a 56-41 Mountain Lion victory during the 2002-03 season.

• Junior guard Amanda Smith and sophomore forward Rachel Artrip have carried the scoring load in Concord's first five games. Smith has averaged 15 points per game (ppg) to lead CU while Artrip has come on as of late to up her scoring average to 11.8 per night after scoring 18 points vs. Pitt-Johnstown and 20 at Alderson-Broaddus.

• Artrip is also Concord's top-rebounder having grabbed 6.2 rebounds per game so far.

• In addition to being the team's third leading scorer (11.6 ppg), sophomore guard Stephanie Wagner has also passed out a Concord-best 4.4 assists per game. Wagner has also been nearly automatic at the foul line (12-14, 85.7%).

• Sophomore forward Jacqueline Kestner and senior guard Tanisha Williams both nearly average two steals per game with 1.8 and 1.6 per game averages, respectively. Kestner also matched a career-high with nine points vs. A-B.

• Through five games this season, Concord boasts a turnover margin of +5. The Mountain Lions commit just 13.2 turnovers per game while forcing opponents to make 18.2 miscues a night.

• UVA-Wise enters the Carter Center having lost its last four games and sporting an overall record of 1-7.

• The Cavilers are led by the scoring duo of Chelsea Cluesman and MaKenzie Cluesman. Chelsea averages 20.6 ppg with MaKenzie chipping in 10.8 ppg. Chelsea also brings in a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game.

The Coaches: Kenny Osborne is in his 13th season as Concord's head coach. Osborne has tallied a record of 185-161 (.536) at CU. Osborne is 197-176 (.529) for his career as a head coach.

UVA-Wise is led by second-year head coach Kristin Kunzman. In just over one season at UVA-Wise, Kunzman is 10-28. Kunzman is 38-39 as a collegiate head coach.
