	PHILLIPPI, W. Va. – The Concord University men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night when Alderson-Broaddus defeated the Mountain Lions 83-66.
 
The loss drops Concord's record to 3-1 overall this season and 1-1 in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Alderson-Broaddus improved its record to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the WVIAC with the victory.
The Mountain Lions were led in the loss by senior forward 
Damien Tunstalle and sophomore forward 
Jordan Davis. Tunstalle scored a team-high 12 points on 5-for-13 shooting while Davis scored 10 points and tied sophomore guard 
Paul Byrd with a team-best four rebounds.
Senior guard 
Eric Bailey scored a personal season-high nine points. Sophomore guard 
Mike Boyd guided the offense with four assists. In their first games of the season, freshman guard 
Cam Shannon had three steals and junior forward 
Nick Ruffin scored five points.
As a team, Concord shot a respectable 45.3 percent (24-for-53) from the field.
CU never held a lead vs. Alderson-Broaddus, but were able to stay close with A-B for most of the first half. However, Alderson-Broaddus was able to extend its lead to a commanding 11-point edge at 38-27 going into halftime.
Concord opened the second half on a 7-2 after Tunstalle hit a layup, Byrd drained two free throws and freshman guard 
Jake Bischoff sank a three-pointer that cut Alderson-Broaddus' lead to just six points (40-34) with 18:16 left to play in the second half. But any thoughts of a comeback were crushed when the Battlers answered with a 16-5 run of their own, stretching their lead to 56-39 with the eventual 83-66 win coming 12 minutes later.
Kurklin Bohanon led Alderson-Broaddus to the win with a game-high 20 points.
Concord will look to return to its winning ways 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 vs. West Virginia State.
