Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0

EMORY, Va. - Concord University women's volleyball boosted their record and win streak with a sweep over Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon, 3-0. The Mountain Lions now have a 14-13 record overall. 

Setter Nikki McMillan earned a double-double with 18 assists and 12 digs, also marking three kills. Setter Amanda Walker also helped control the ball with 16 assists, six digs and three aces.

The Mountain Lions and the Wasps were battling back and forth until 12-12 in the first set. Concord went on the offense ending with 15 kills and a .289 hitting percentage along with Emory & Henry errors grabbing the win, 25-15.

Set two was a bigger battle for both teams with six tie scores and two lead changes. CU was outhit by Emory & Henry .393 to .375 but the Mountain Lions held strong on defense and clung onto the win, 25-20.

The match was decided in the third set when Concord beat Emory & Henry, 25-22. The Wasps held the lead until a kill by right side Kylie Perdue tied it up 21-21 with the assist from Walker. The next four points were scored by two kills from middle hitter Sarah Jones, one kill from middle hitter Rebecca Lovejoy, and the final point, ace by defensive specialist Allie Pennington.

Right side Whytni Willis produced a career-high seven kills, four assists, four digs, and a block. Jones ended up with 12 kills, an assist, and a dig. Outside Brytni Willis recorded seven kills and digs, an assist, and an ace. Pennington served the match-winning ace and a dig. Perdue hit five kills and had an assist and ace. Libero Lindsey Smith dug 13 balls, had three aces, and an assist.

CU returns to play on Monday, October 29th in the King College Triangular in Bristol, TN. The Mountain Lions are scheduled to play University of Montevallo at 4:00 p.m. followed by at match-up against King College at 6:00 p.m.
