Peters Runner of the Year, CU Fourth at WVIAC's

GREENSBURG, Pa. –
Concord University men's cross country senior Robby Peters continued his historic season Saturday morning by winning the 2012 West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship race. As a team, Concord placed fourth.

Wheeling Jesuit won the team championship followed by West Virginia Wesleyan in second place, Seton Hill in third and Concord in fourth with Ohio Valley rounding out the top five.

Peters posted a time of 27:31.86  to earn the win. In addition to the victory, the first-place finish earned Peters the 2012 WVIAC Runner of the Year award. He finished nearly 12 seconds faster than his closest competition.

Fellow senior Sterling Snyder was Concord's second finisher. Snyder placed eighth with a time of 28:41.77 to earn All-WVIAC honors.

Nick Lucento just missed earning All-WVIAC honors with a 22nd place showing in a time of 29:29.59.

The Mountain Lions' fourth runner on the day was Craig Pritt, who came in 27th place in a time of 30:02.32.

Jake Munsey and Brandon Purdue finished back-to-back in 31st and 32nd place with respective times of 30:18.86 and 30:25.53.

Also competing for Concord on Saturday was Wes McKinney (36th – 30:58.06) and Jacob Doss (56th – 33:49.45).

Concord will have the week off before heading to Lock Haven, Pa. Saturday, Nov. 3 to compete at the Atlantic Regional Championships. The men's race is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m.
