ATHENS, W. Va. – A goal by senior
Erika Hoff was all the Concord University women's soccer team needed to defeat King College (Tenn.) Friday afternoon at Anderson Field. The 1-0 victory extended the Mountain Lions' winning streak to seven games, the program's longest win streak since 2007.
With the win, Concord improves to 8-6-2 overall. King College drops to 4-7-2 overall.
The Mountain Lions held advantages over King in shots 19-11 and shots on goal 13-2. King held the edge in corners, 8-5.
CU put six shots on goal in the first half, but were unable to land any for scores while the Tornadoes had both of their shots on goal stopped leading to a 0-0 game at halftime.
However, just 14 minutes into the second half Hoff scored off of an assist from sophomore
Alyanna James to give Concord a 1-0 lead that it would manage to hold onto for the rest of the game. The goal was Hoff's second of the season while the assist was James' team-leading fourth of the year.
For the game, James and Hoff led all players with five and four shots, respectively. Freshman

Kaitlyn Wasylko picked up the victory with her third shutout of the season.

Tiffany Kobordo were honored for their contributions to the program over their careers.
Concord will close out its 2012 season at home against West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Seton Hill 1:00 p.m. Oct. 24 at Anderson Field.
