ATHENS, W. Va. - Concord University women's soccer team has increased their win streak to four with a victory over West Virginia University Institute of Technology, 2-0. The Mountain Lions has improved their record to 5-6-2, while the Golden Bears drop to 2-12.
CU scored two first-half goals, which proved to be all that they needed for this shut out. Sophomore
Alyanna James opened the scoring putting the Mountain Lions ahead just two minutes in with an assist from freshman
Kari Simon. This goal marks James fourth goal of the season and Simon's third assist.
In the 40th minute Senior
Fiona Mearns headed in her third goal of the season off an assist from Sophomore
Madi Ranck, marking her first assist of her career.
For the game, Concord handled WV Tech 17-9 in the shot department. Leading the Mountain Lions in shots included Senior
Erika Hoff (5), Freshman
Brianne LaFemina (3) and James (3).

Kaitlyn Wasylko ended the match with six saves while grabbing her first shut out of the season.
Concord returns to West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on October 13th at Ohio Valley University. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
