The Concord Men's Golf team may be out of the title picture at the Kiawah Island Invitational, but a strong, respectable showing is still very much in focus.

The Mountain Lions unveiled a new lineup at their first event of the year, and stand in 9th place out of 17 teams at the tournament at the Cougar Point Golf Club in South Carolina.

Concord's team score of 11-over par 299 is 17 shots behind first-round leader Georgia Southwestern, but just six shots back of the Monday runner-up, USC-Aiken, and five strokes out of third place.

Jamie Arthur and Matt Morgan were CU's co-leaders, with each shooting a +2 74 to tie for 21st place in the individual standings. Evan Muscari posted a 75, tying for 29th.
Nathaniel Begley carded a 76 and Sebastian Starud a 77 for the Mountain Lions.

The tournament's second and final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
