One of these days, all the shots the Concord Men's Soccer team is generating will result in a bevy of goals.

Unfortunately, Tuesday was not that day.

The Mountain Lions fired 17 shots in their non-conference match against Virginia Intermont, but none found the net in a 1-0 defeat at Anderson Field.

CU attempted nine more shots than the visiting Cobras and ended the match with a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. But the match's only tally came on a penalty kick by VI's Yannick Cheipodeu in the 58th minute, after Concord goalkeeper Matt Hamilton received a red card for interfering with a player with a chance to score in the 18-yard box.

Despite playing short-handed for much of the 2nd half, Concord pressed the attack, outshooting Intermont after Hamilton's dismissal. The Mountain Lions' best chances came late; Ivan Deyanov and Lucas Lemine put solid shots on goal in the 82nd and 85th minutes, respectively, only to be denied.

Up next for the Mountain Lions is a return to the WVIAC schedule. Concord visits Shepherd for a conference match on Saturday, September 24. Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm in Shepherdstown, WV.
