Concord's Volleyball team stepped out of its WVIAC schedule for two non-conference matches at Lees-McRae College Saturday night in Banner Elk, NC.

The Lady Lions fell to UNC-Pembroke in the first match (25-20, 25-18, 25-23) and bowed to the host Bobcats (25-14, 25-13, 25-13) in the nightcap.

Against UNCP, freshman Sarah Jones led the Lady Lions with eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Helen Theisen and Nikki McMillan distributed nine assists each. Amanda Walker had 11 digs and Lindsey Smith ten.

In the match against Lees-McRae, which is in first place in Conference Carolinas, Smith floored four kills and Theisen handed out eight assists. Walker had nine digs and McMillan eight

Up next for Concord is its 2011 home opener -- a non-conference home triangular match on Tuesday, September 20 at the Carter Center.

The Lady Lions host King College (TN) and 2:00 pm, and intra-county rival Bluefield State at 6:00 pm.
In between, King and BSC will play at 4:00.
